Learn more. Ping shows a delay of 57 samples. When I print the track, the resulting new audio track is delayed compared to the original. Also, the Audio control panel is showing 5.

So, I put a Sample Delay plugin on the new track and set it for samples. I don't know why, really. Bam, all tracks now line up perfectly. What the hell did I just do?

Multiplying 57 with another number doesn't give you anything useful. Are there any other latency inducing plugins in the project, on an Aux or Output? And what sample rate are you running at? What's the outboard you're going through? Is it all-analogue or is it digital? Then, I created a new track, and set this new track's input to be the channel whose audio I'm processing.

Is that the problem? Not sure how else to print the processed audio. You must record through a bus, or you'll get recordings that are a minimum of a roundtrip early. OK, that means your outboard latency is zero, because you aren't going through any digital outboard. I was going to ask you if you had a MOTU!

So, your latency is being under-reported by 57 samples. If I'm correct, that means you should set a negative Recording Delay of samples in audio prefs. This will mean you're configured properly for basic sample accurate recording, without latency inducing plugins. But I don't think it will fix the biggest problem you're seeing i. Not a problem, perfectly valid way of using it.

Then you simply record from that bus using the audio track you set up previously. I never found Logic's latency figures to be even remotely accurate, more like complete guesswork. If I want to know the exact numbers, I use Sample Delay and flipped phase signals, and experiment until I get complete cancellation.

If you want to know your exact roundtrip latency just record a click via loopback and through a bus on the way back in. Top Mentioned Manufacturers. Facebook Twitter Reddit LinkedIn. Subscribe to our mailing lists. By using this site, you agree to our use of cookies. Code by Port Forward.
